Playtime and The SHED of Dreams

Playsuit from ASOS (Currently £13.50 in the sale and there is also another 10% off sale items discount code!), Vest Top from Zara (old), Tights from Primark, Shoes from ASOS

In a change from my usual dresses and skirts I have chosen a fun playsuit as today's outfit. I got this from the ASOS sale and I absolutely love it. It is so comfortable but can be dressed up or down easily, making it a really versatile piece to have in my wardrobe.

Today is my day off work (yey) and so far it has involved receiving an ASOS delivery (me and the delivery man are firm friends now!) and taking delivery of the SHED. Now I really should not be so excited about this shed arriving but I really am! Bit of a background story for you (bear with me) we moved in here about 4 and a half years ago and have done literally nothing with the house. We both hate DIY and are both incredibly lazy, not a good combination for sorting a house out. We also could both win the olympic gold medal for procrastination, also not a helpful quality for getting things done!

Mr Bertie bought the house with the aim of letting it out rather than living in it, so it is a bit too big for us really (it is not a big house by any means, but to be honest we are probably more suited to a 2 bedroom cool apartment with a garage than a 3 bedroom end terrace with two sizeable gardens) We do not have children and we HATE gardening. Although the extra small bedroom is going to be turned into a dressing room/walk in wardrobe for me (when we finally get our act together) so I can't complain about that I suppose.

Anyway, back to the SHED. Seeing as we have had no motivation to sort things and this house has really bad storage issues we have just been piling things up in corners and in boxes (seriously, there is crap EVERYWHERE) and along with this random crap more and more 'outsidey' things have been put into the house (gardening tools, paint, bike things and other general dirty ugly things that really should NOT be a part of a living room!) so the SHED's arrival is long overdue.  I am hoping this is the start of many good things to come.  It is something I have been dreaming about for the last 6 months (no, seriously I have!)

However, this means I now need to keep up my end of the bargain and do my massive clear out of my excessive clothes, shoes, makeup and other random things.  This is going to be a BIG job, but I am looking forward to it (I must keep telling myself that) But for now I will focus on the excitement of THE SHED and all that it symbolises, it is a thing of beauty I tell ya!

What about you, are you an organised person or a hoarder like me?

  1. I'm really surprised you're a procrastinator! I always feel like I have a huge monkey on my bag and have to just get things done or it just keeps bugging me. It sure will nice for you two to have a place for storage, we have a basement so it's nice to be able to store Christmas stuff, baby stuff, e t there. Out of sight, out of mind :)

    1. Yep I really am, at work I am so efficient and get everything done ahead of everyone else and am so organised. But because our house is in such a mess I feel a bit overwhelmed by it all so I keep putting things off. It is driving me mad! I hear you on the out of sight out of mind, lets hope the SHED helps with this lol.

    1. Lol you make me laugh being jealous of my day off when you have yours tomorrow! You can't have every day off you know hahaha, although that would be good, but I think they call it being unemployed and neither of us want to go there.... oooh noo. If it makes you feel any better it will be a 9 hour day for me today and then I have to bring work home with me tonight, it has to be done I suppose ah well.

I will definitely be blogging about the SHED of dreams and the progress of it, including photos of it's beauty. You can even come and see it in person!! Look how lucky you are lol.

  8. I wouldn't really describe myself as a hoarder, because I'm always having clear-outs and I can't stand clutter, but I just have SO MUCH STUFF and not nearly enough space to put it all, so our house is a bit of a disaster. Like you, I absolutely DETEST gardening and I don't do DIY at all, so our next house needs to have no garden and require absolutely no repair work at all, as far as I'm concerned!

On a fashion note, I really like your playsuit... I have a couple which I tend only to wear on holiday because I'm a bit self-conscious about them for some reason. I need to find some more!

    1. Yes I have been enjoying reading about your DIY adventures and how long it takes you both to push yourselves to do it - I smile when I read them as we are exactly the same. We talk about it for about 2 months, build up to it for another month and then finally get around to doing it, even when it is something as small as changing a tap! I think our perfect next house would be an old house with lots of period features and charm but needing the maintenance of a new build with NO garden, a shed, a garage, a cellar, a loft and LOTS of storage! Ah I can dream!

Thanks, I am loving it and how comfortable it is :) I have one other one that I only wear on holiday (I wonder why we decide they are good for holiday wear - maybe it is the shorts thing?). But I think this one should hopefully get worn a lot more, although for £13.50 I can't complain if I only wear it a handful of times and then donate to charity shop.

  9. Congrats on the shed, Janine! I totally understand. My hubby did one shed this year, and was so happy too when it was done as everything was piling up on the other shed. Yes...we have two...so sad...Anyhoo, am not really a hoarder but not an organized person either. I'm just lazy.
Anyhoo, how cute is that playsuit, and such a great price too. You wear it so well too. Methinks it's time to visit the ASOS site again:)

    1. Thanks Emmy, glad you understand why I am so excited. Two sheds sounds amazing! We will probably need a second one at some point, hazards of living with another fellow hoarder is the 'stuff' just keeps building and building!

    1. Thanks, I am certainly addicted to the ASOS sale this year, they notified me by email of the 10% off sale items code that they are running at the moment and even though I said I wouldn't buy anything else I just can't help myself!

  12. Your house sounds lovely!! But then I am a person who loves DIY, gardening and being organised so I guess we're a bit different in that respect!

Good luck with the SHED and the clear out, sometimes it feels so good to just de-clutter and have a place for everything.

And the playsuit is super cute.
