Snow Day? No Way!!

Dress from George at ASDA, Boots from Dorothy Perkins, Belt from Primark

** DISCLAIMER** I will be wearing a cardigan over my dress and a thick coat over that for my journey to work.  I won't freeze, don't worry. However the temperature in my office is tropical anyway, that's what happens when you work in a 100 year old building with no air conditioning and the heating permanently on full blast! Toasty!

So last night it snowed. But not enough for a snow day, although I would never get given a snow day anyway! You see my organisation is very 'keep calm and carry on' with regards to anything like this; snow, floods, natural disasters, earthquakes. Ok, so we don't technically get earthquakes in West Yorkshire, but I am pretty certain that if we did we would still get told to be at our desks by 9am sharp! So even when it is knee deep I just have to put on my snow boots and walk to work. Because of course buses are allergic to snow in England, they just stop working.  I wonder where places like Poland and Latvia buy their buses from? They work just fine in the snow, we need to get us some of those babies!!

In other news (because as much as I would like to, I can't just talk about the weather and nothing else) the weekend is nearly here! I don't have very many plans for this weekend.  If the weather reports are anything to go by we are going to be snowed in (20cm is expected) so I need to plan to do things at home which works out fine as I still have lots of cleaning and sorting out to do.  I may sneak in a trip to the cinema (if the roads haven't all come to a sudden standstill because of the snow!) so I will get out at some point hopefully. But to be honest a weekend at home sounds bliss right about now.  Hmm, I didn't do too well at staying off the subject of the weather in that paragraph did I? I am obsessed.

Right I must dash as I am running late.  Have a fabulous Friday everyone, have you woken up to snow where you are? I am going to get out in the garden to do my outfit photos this weekend I think so I can show you how deep it gets here :)

  1. I'm running late too, but not rushing as I'm not actually expected in work!

I love this dress, the collar is gorgeous. Glad you're feeling a bit brighter today,
I'm not, sadly, but a lot of that is errant female hormones...next time round I want to be a CAT!

  6. We've got SO MUCH snow here too, and we never get a snow day either. So I hear your pain. Also I walk as well. Haha, sometimes schools and work don't realize how much we do for them. Definitely would prefer a cozy day on the couch. Oh well, tomorrow is Saturday!!! Happy Friday :)

    1. Aw you cope with snow so much better than us though, everything is coming to a standstill it makes me laugh. And yes works need to give us more back I agree. Although I have a fabulous boss so can't complain. She once walked into work (9 miles each way) when roads were blocked to show support for her staff who don't have the option of working from home (A lot of managers can but a lot of the operational staff can't and she doesn't think that is fair) she is a VERY fair manager :)

      Saturday yeyyy, I cannot wait

    2. Wow, what a manager! I hope someone bought her coffee or something for that. Hopefully everything gets cleared up and organized soon :)

    3. I know she is a star :) Surprisingly everything is running just fine now, buses running more on time than they usually do. I feel like I have woken up somewhere else, doesn't feel like I am in the UK, how bizarre haha. I am happy about it though. I love the snow but I also like it when I can get about so now I have best of both worlds :)

    1. Aw thanks Lisa :) I am so jealous of you working from home. I could technically work from home if needed but I was interviewing someone today so had to trudge in, it wasn't too bad though and I am more easily motivated in the office rather than at home anyway (I am sure you know about that with you being able to work from home, hard to motivate with all the distractions and fun things at home!)

Thanks, you have a lovely weekend too :)

    1. Same here, it is going to get mega heavy here tomorrow too, expecting about 15-20 cm in da Hudd, yey!! You will be fine with the weather and going out, do the taxis and you will be inside so just go with it. The weather was awful on our work do (when that black ice hit) but we were so drunk we didn't notice :) booze is the way forward. Excited to see your outfit.

Thanks hun, you should order one, if you do be sure to size down by at least 2 sizes (although I think you are a 10 now so you will just have to get the 8 and make do) I think a 4 would have fitted me in this if they had it it's such a big fit, but I love it too much to send back, I had to pin it and belt it to wear it, I will take it in properly soon.

Shed is under the snow lol.

Love the outfit though, the dress is really cute on you & those tan boots are gorgeous! I really need some suitable knee-highs for these kind of occasions, my legs got frozen/soaking walking to work in the deep snow in my ankle boots! :(

    1. Haha, I threw the disclaimer in there because my Mum reads my blog and when I met up with her the other day she said some of my outfits don't look weather appropriate but I promised her I am wearing cardigans and coats over and change into snow boots when I go into work lol. These boots wouldn't be the best for the snow as I don't think they are waterproof, but they are good to change into when I get to work and when it is just cold and dry they are so warm.

  35. can you believe i actually have the exact same outfit planned. Well exact enough, same style dress and tan boots and belt (your dress is actually nicer, what a gorgeous collar!!) But snow has put me off wearing it lately. I have to say your dress collection is amazing!! If i were 2 sizes smaller i would be up to Leeds and raiding haha! xxxx

    1. I can actually believe it as we have such a similar taste haha. I have been building up my dress collection for about 3 years now. I never buy expensive dresses (other than for really special occasions) and keep wondering if I should buy less and buy higher quality but I love having lots of choice and not worrying about spilling something down a £200 dress. Ooh no a raid is coming haha!! I could say same back to you, it is a shame we aren't same size as we could have done some schwapping (or whatever you call it)
