Feathers and Wool

Dress from Dorothy Perkins, Cardigan from a shop in Berlin, Hat from Accessorize (gift from my lovely Mum), Tights from M&S, Boots from H&M, Ring and Necklace from Boots

I needed a warm and cosy outfit today as it is still freezing and I wanted to make sure I was comfortable.  This dress definitely fitted the bill, double layered and so soft with a stretchy waistband (oh, the glamour!) so I could move around easily.  Today was my day off (yey) and my Mum and me went into town for some lunch and to browse the shops. I saw sooo much I wanted to buy but I was very restrained and kept reminding myself of my shopping ban! I saw a gorgeous dress in TK Maxx with a cute little birdcage print on it (it sounds weird but it was very girly and retro) but I put it back and walked away (sob).  I did buy some things though..... so £22.98 of my £50 'allowed' allowance has now been spent;
M&S Bras reduced down from £22 and £16 to £2.99 and £1.49!! Bargain!!! Vichy  Derma Blend Foundation (in Nude) £15, Feather Necklace £3 from Boots and the Ring was meant to be £2 but it was buy one get one free.  I am not counting the cost of the coldsore cream as I really don't think that should count, I just wanted to include it in my picture, as it is obviously very glamorous and photo worthy, lol.

Coldsore Watch: The coldsore has decided to make an impromptu visit (uninvited too I may add, the cheeky thing!) It always arrives in the exact same place and when it is not there it leaves a dark scar (which is why I nearly always wear dark or red lipstick to hide it) I am getting really fed up of it now and wish it would just bugger off for good. I bought my usual supply of coldsore cream today in town and I am taking my vitamins, resting and eating well. Go away coldsore, you are not wanted here!!!! I really hope it goes before Valentines Day, Mr Bertie won't kiss me when the coldsore comes to visit (even though he was the one who gave me coldsores in the first place, I never had them before I got with him) so it will be a very unromantic Valentines Day if he won't come near me.

I am still looking for somewhere for Mr Bertie and me to go for Valentines Day and have now managed to get it down to a few possible locations/hotels.  I just love browsing hotels online (almost as much as I love browsing clothes) and could spend all day just planning mini breaks or holidays.  I think being an independent travel agent creating bespoke holidays would be a fabulous job for me.  People always ask me to look for hotels, flights and holidays for them or ask me for recommendations, maybe I should start charging for my services?. This idea should go onto my 'Ideas for My Own Business' list, I started this a while back and have come up with a few ideas so far, maybe one day one of them will become a reality!

What about you, if you could do anything in the world as a career, what would you choose? I love asking people this question when I am chatting with them, I feel it says a lot about them as a person and their personality.

Happy Wednesday everyone!!

    I was wondering who takes your pictures haha. And also what foundation do you use? The one you bought or that's new? kisses :)

    1. Thank you Monica, I am pleased with that necklace especially as it was only £3 in the sale! Mr Bertie takes them but today they are a mix of self timer ones and some that he took as he had to rush off to the gym before we were finished (I should go with him really but am being too lazy today haha) I usually use Max Factor Lasting Performance Foundation (which is what I am wearing in this photo and all my photos previously) it is a full coverage and long wearing foundation and I swear by it. But my Mum told me to try this new foundation which I bought today. I might do a review on it, I will wear it for work tomorrow, it looks good so far from the sample.

  9. Ive also been kinda banning myself from buying anything! It's soo hard. I think you'd make a good travel agent if you like doing that kind of stuff! I would love to be a personal or secret shopper just cause I love shopping so much, even if it's not for myself! I love this comfy yet super chic outfit :)

  15. Gorgeous as ever, coldsore or not! I am a fellow coldsore sufferer, and they have a horrible habit of knowing when the worst possible time is to arrive: almost every time we had school photos taken when I was little, I would have a giant cold sore on my lip (my mum got sick of paying for photos of the things!), and they've also appeared during two holidays, so all of my holiday photos looked REALLY attractive! (Although I do the same as you and wear bright red lipstick to cover it up - I can't see yours at all in the photos, so it must work!). When I was planning my wedding I was so convinced I would get one that I applied coldsore cream for a couple of weeks before the wedding: I didn't get a cold sore, but I did get huge red weals under my eyes which was just lovely: I'm pretty sure my body just does this to spite me!

    Anyway, I think your independent travel agent idea sounds fab. My mum always plans our holidays, and has considered setting up in business too, because she really enjoys it, and is good at finding deals - at least it would be a job where you'd (hopefully) be dealing with happy people most of the time!

    1. Thanks Amber, such a lovely thing to say :) That is pants that you suffer with them too and they do always choose the worst possible moment to spring up you are right, I have loads of holiday photos with big fat coldsores playing a leading role in them too. So glad you didn't get one for your wedding, that is a good tip to apply the anti viral cream religiously before a big even to try prevent it, definitely worth a try! Aw no about the huge red weals though, your body sounds like it is the same as mine. I have lost count of the numbers of times illness has ruined my Christmas, birthday or other big event. For my birthday this year I managed two hours in town feeling like crap, vomiting and running to the toilet (I was determined to go out and enjoy myself but I was SO ill) I was bitten by a mosquito on holiday a few weeks earlier and had a severe allergic reaction which then turned into a really nasty infection in my foot (I nearly had to go into hospital as the way it was affecting me and my MS was really bad, glad I avoided that though!) yeah my body chooses its times to malfunction really well indeed haha. If you find any ways to make your body obey you and only be ill (if it really must be!) on days when nothing is planned then please share with me, we could make a fortune!!

      It's good to have someone in your family who enjoys arranging and booking the trips (I guess that is me in my family, well at least within my group of friends anyway) and it would be really nice to deal with happy people all day like you say, it is sounding more and more appealing to me...

    1. Thanks, that cardigan is one of my favourites. It doesn't fit under any coat though so I have to either stuff it into my bag and put it on when I get to where I am going or hold out for the Spring, it is the perfect thing to wear instead of a jacket in the Spring actually. Hurry up sunshine!!

  19. Yay for mini-breaks! So many great places to choose from in the UK. I loved wintering in England when I lived there, the weather is just so much more amenable. Our weather here is so snowy and awful right now, that anywhere we go is going to involve a lot of trudging through snow and cold and slush, so I imagine when we’re in Toronto next weekend we’ll be chilling out at our hotel a lot :)
