So here I am, back from my little break. I had a week completely away from the internet (blogging, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, etc) to rest and recuperate from the viral throat infection I had. I must admit it was nice to have a break but I did miss blogging (and reading blogs) so I am happy to be back.
So what have I been up to this last week? I think it may be easier to summarise quickly so as not to bore you and not to go on and on (which we all know I do have a tendency to do!) This week I have mainly been;
Resting in bed and actually listening to my Doctor for once, I watched a lot of TV and did a lot of knitting (yes I am very exciting!) I kept away from my laptop and on a couple of days I didn't even switch it on (completely unheard of for me).
Working super hard. Even though I have been ill I cannot take sick days as we have lots of interviews booked in (I am the chair for our interviews) and we are snowed under with work in general, so if I take sick days it will be ten times worse when I do get back. It is better to just plod on. I must admit though my 10 hour days probably didn't help my recovery and it's probably the reason it has dragged on for a week. Also why I had to spend the whole weekend in bed. At least I have a job though I suppose?
Applying for jobs (staying on the work theme) I do enjoy my job but it is only a secondment (albeit a super super long one, I have been doing this for 14 months now) and it will ultimately end when I will then return to my job in payroll (which I also enjoy but it is not as varied as this and doesn't push me as much as this). So I am preempting the end of the secondment and applying for jobs now that interest me. I have two more applications to submit today, both will be a great challenge for me if I got them! Keep your fingers crossed for me please!
Not internet shopping, yes you heard me right, I haven't been buying things online (other than the Sainsbury's shop and one dress that I couldn't resist when ASOS sent me a 25% off code) I am not going to get all 'Oh look at me, I have broken my online shopping addiction, aren't I good?!' as to be honest I haven't at all. I was ill and didn't go online much which resulted in hardly any internet shopping, simple as that. Now I am feeling better I am sure I will go back to my usual excessive online purchasing. From this I am sure you have figured out I failed with my February non shopping challenge. I gave it my best shot and I must admit I have spent a lot less this month than I usually would do, but I have spent more than the allocated £50, a lot more. Oooops.
Planning what to do when we get up to Edinburgh this weekend. We are only there for a really short time so I have had to be really selective about what I really want to do and see and be realistic about timescales. I have also been incredibly geeky and written up an itinerary to ensure we see and do everything on my list. We fly up there on Friday afternoon and I can't wait!!
Visiting the knitting shop. It's a whole new world for me full of rows of pretty coloured wools and funny looking implements. I got a pattern for a bolero, some dusky pink wool and some new needles. I even got a circular needle! Now I just need to learn what to do with it all and how to knit properly. I have started knitting the bolero (I have completed the back and sides so far) but it really doesn't look like it is supposed to. Oh well, I am determined to see it through even if it looks really odd at the end. Then I can start again and learn from the mistakes I made the first time round. Mr Bertie doesn't get it at all, he keeps saying "I will just buy you a cardigan, why are you wasting your time?!" Boys, sigh, they don't get why we love being creative do they. He gets it when I am creative with my cooking though, that he certainly understands, lol.
So what has everyone else been up to? I am going to catch up on everyone else's blogs over the next couple of days, I have missed reading them and seeing the lovely outfits!
