There Are Some Perks Of Being A Short Arse

Dress from New Look Teens Section, Boots from Dorothy Perkins, Cardigan from Apricot

I didn't actually realise I was in the teens section when I picked this dress up.  I just spied the print and the collar and rushed over to grab it off the rail.  I go by eye first of all for size and then check the label after I have tried it on (I am a big believer in wearing what fits rather than focusing on size, especially with so much variety in size across shops). It fitted me perfectly and then I looked at the label and saw 'Age 13' which made me laugh.  I am not sure I would have even tried it on if I had seen that beforehand, which just goes to show my theory of try on first and look at size later does actually work.

Do you ever shop in the teens/kids section of high street shops? I always like to give them a quick browse as you can get some lovely items and sometimes I even mange to find the same items as are in the ladies section for much cheaper.

Today has been a bit of a lazy day (last day of my week off so it had to be done) and I am just about to cook a turkey mince shepherds pie, I might put some photos up on my Instagram if it works out ok.  Have a fun Sunday evening!!

    1. If you saw some of the teenagers around here you would actually think it is a bit childish for them haha (not saying anything else but lets just say I wouldn't let my daughter go out like aome of them I see! Tut tut, gosh I am getting old) I do love it on me though, I am not too old for bird print and a peter pan collar, I never will be (well I hope not anyway) haha

  7. Great find on the dress! And you never know what size will fit, so it's best to just shop around and try everything on!

    1. Thanks Christine, this was in the Autumn/Winter collection but you are right it can be a summer dress too, which makes it even more of a bargain. It will look good with wedges in the summer, now all I need is some sunshine and I am good to go :)

    1. Yey a fellow shortie :) I know people do look at me weird (especially when I go to try them on haha) who cares when we are getting cute pieces at cheap prices though :)

I also buy jewellry, shoes and bags in plus size shops (I have found they often have the best accessories and shoes!) and I have lost count of the number of times a sales assistant has said to me 'you do know this is a plus size shop don't you?' when I ask if they have my shoe width fitting. Erm yes I know lol, but I am shopping for my feet, my ears and my neck I am sure they are pretty much a universal size! LOL

    1. Aw that is a shame, but on the plus side you can carry off so many things that us shorties can't and always manage to look elegant no matter what you wear. Birdy prints are the bestest (yes it is a word hehe)

  15. Lovely dress :)

I do try and look in the kids sections when I remember - have a dogtooth mini (age 12 from M&S) and a denim shirt (age 15 from Tammy) that have been staples in my wardrobe for years now!

    1. I have never tried M&S kids section, I will give it a try now you have mentioned it (thank you, I hadn't thought of it before!) and I have some things from Tammy Girl when I worked in Etam (years before it went out of business, I was only 19 at the time) I was so happy when they came back as 'Tammy' in BHS, I regularly shop in there but often find the clothes coming up too big in my height (162cm) so finding a waist and bust that fits me can me the clothes are extremely short. I think they have increased their sizing as I haven't shrunk!

    1. That is a shame, although you would be surprised at the sizing of the kids stuff nowadays. The age 16 is about a size 12-14 in some places (and you only look like a 10-12) and also for very tall girls (kids are getting taller and taller!) it may be still worth a try!
