I didn't actually realise I was in the teens section when I picked this dress up. I just spied the print and the collar and rushed over to grab it off the rail. I go by eye first of all for size and then check the label after I have tried it on (I am a big believer in wearing what fits rather than focusing on size, especially with so much variety in size across shops). It fitted me perfectly and then I looked at the label and saw 'Age 13' which made me laugh. I am not sure I would have even tried it on if I had seen that beforehand, which just goes to show my theory of try on first and look at size later does actually work.
Do you ever shop in the teens/kids section of high street shops? I always like to give them a quick browse as you can get some lovely items and sometimes I even mange to find the same items as are in the ladies section for much cheaper.
Today has been a bit of a lazy day (last day of my week off so it had to be done) and I am just about to cook a turkey mince shepherds pie, I might put some photos up on my Instagram if it works out ok. Have a fun Sunday evening!!

DeleteI always check out the teen sections too! H&M is my favourite, I've had a blazer and a cute waistcoat from there in the past xxx
ReplyDeleteH&M is one I haven't tried very often but I feel a shopping session (window shopping for now!) coming on very soon.
DeleteLove this outfit you look so cute I just love it!!!

DeleteSo funny! I think it looks way to grown up for a teenager, it's perfect on you!

If you saw some of the teenagers around here you would actually think it is a bit childish for them haha (not saying anything else but lets just say I wouldn't let my daughter go out like aome of them I see! Tut tut, gosh I am getting old) I do love it on me though, I am not too old for bird print and a peter pan collar, I never will be (well I hope not anyway) haha
DeleteGreat find on the dress! And you never know what size will fit, so it's best to just shop around and try everything on!
ReplyDeletebrenna
I agree, trying to shop by size can exhaust me, this always works out better. I have developed a good eye for what will fit :)
DeleteLove this dress!
ReplyDeleteAnd I like the print on it!
Oeh, the food that you make
this evening, sounds so good! :)
Have a great evening!

Thanks Dascha :) The shepherds pie was yummy and everyone at work loves the vanilla kipferl, they are nearly all gone :)
DeleteI love that you're using a summery dress in the winter, along with a snuggly cardigan :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine, this was in the Autumn/Winter collection but you are right it can be a summer dress too, which makes it even more of a bargain. It will look good with wedges in the summer, now all I need is some sunshine and I am good to go :)
DeleteLove your dress, I also love wearing dresses in winter :)
ReplyDeletekisses!

Thanks Monica, I am a 'dress all year round' kind of girl. Primark thermal tights have made this possible so for that I thank them, lol.
DeleteI buy from the kids section!! I think it's great, they have good/ cute stuff and it is such a good price, people look at you a bit funny though!
ReplyDeleteEm x
Yey a fellow shortie :) I know people do look at me weird (especially when I go to try them on haha) who cares when we are getting cute pieces at cheap prices though :)
DeleteI also buy jewellry, shoes and bags in plus size shops (I have found they often have the best accessories and shoes!) and I have lost count of the number of times a sales assistant has said to me 'you do know this is a plus size shop don't you?' when I ask if they have my shoe width fitting. Erm yes I know lol, but I am shopping for my feet, my ears and my neck I am sure they are pretty much a universal size! LOL
That's a great dress! I'm not that tall too (ahem) and have shopped at the kids' section, mostly for pants, as I hate hemming.
ReplyDeleteThanks Emmy, us shorties need to unite. Good things come in small packages :)
DeleteThat is awesome, I must check out the kids section next time I'm in a store! Thanks for the FYI!

Yes definitely check it out, you can find some fabulous things :)
DeleteWish I could shop in the teen sections, would save so much money haha! They just come up too short on me :( this is so pretty though, I love birdy prints! xxx
ReplyDeleteAw that is a shame, but on the plus side you can carry off so many things that us shorties can't and always manage to look elegant no matter what you wear. Birdy prints are the bestest (yes it is a word hehe)
DeleteLovely dress :)
ReplyDeleteI do try and look in the kids sections when I remember - have a dogtooth mini (age 12 from M&S) and a denim shirt (age 15 from Tammy) that have been staples in my wardrobe for years now!
Sam Muses xx
I have never tried M&S kids section, I will give it a try now you have mentioned it (thank you, I hadn't thought of it before!) and I have some things from Tammy Girl when I worked in Etam (years before it went out of business, I was only 19 at the time) I was so happy when they came back as 'Tammy' in BHS, I regularly shop in there but often find the clothes coming up too big in my height (162cm) so finding a waist and bust that fits me can me the clothes are extremely short. I think they have increased their sizing as I haven't shrunk!
DeletePretty dress!

ReplyDeleteThanks Christine, finding out I have lots of fellow shorties reading my blog (love it!) I need to try Zara Kids, haven't tried that one yet and have heard great things :)
Deletehaha that is so funny its for age 13 :) its a lovely dress!! I shop in the kids section sometimes too. The prices are better and the stuff can be really cute!

DeleteOh that dress is soooo pretty, i love anything with a bird print! Stunning as usual!

Thanks Tracy, another bird print lover (a lot of people seem to go for it I find)
Delete:)
I'm too tall and wide for kids clothes, which is annoying as they're cheaper!

www.whatlisawrote.blogspot.co.uk
That is a shame, although you would be surprised at the sizing of the kids stuff nowadays. The age 16 is about a size 12-14 in some places (and you only look like a 10-12) and also for very tall girls (kids are getting taller and taller!) it may be still worth a try!
Deleteyou always have such cute outfits! love the dress! xx
